EAST LANSING, Mich. – MSU Health Care Sports Medicine is proud to continue its longstanding support of the Capital City River Run as the event's official medical provider and title sponsor for the 33rd annual race weekend, taking place September 19-20, 2026. The event benefits Impression 5 Science Center and its mission to provide hands-on science learning opportunities for children and families throughout mid-Michigan.

For more than three decades, MSU Health Care Sports Medicine has provided comprehensive care to athletes and active individuals across Michigan while supporting community events that encourage health, wellness and physical activity. The Capital City River Run aligns with that commitment by bringing together runners, walkers, families and community supporters for a weekend of fitness and philanthropy.

MSU Health Care Sports Medicine will provide on-site medical coverage throughout race weekend with a team of sports medicine physicians, fellows, physical therapists, medical students and outreach staff helping support participant safety and care.

"Supporting events like the Capital City River Run reflects our commitment to keeping communities active and healthy," said Sheeba Joseph, MD, orthopedic surgeon and director of outreach at MSU Health Care Sports Medicine. "We're proud to help provide medical coverage for this longstanding Lansing tradition while supporting the important work of Impression 5 Science Center."

The 2026 Capital City River Run will feature a half Marathon, 5K run/walk, and Sohn's Kids Race. The kids race will take place Saturday, September 19, at Impression 5 Science Center, while the half marathon and 5K begin Sunday, September 20, in downtown Lansing. Participants will enjoy courses that highlight some of the region's most recognizable landmarks, including the Lansing River Trail, downtown Lansing, and the Michigan State University campus.

MSU Health Care Physical and Occupational Therapy returns to support the 5k and half marathon. Located next to packet pick-up this year, they will be on-site before your race for complimentary pre-race warm-up support, including guided stretching and Theragun® recovery sessions.

MSU Health Care Sports Medicine remains dedicated to serving athletes and active individuals of all ages through comprehensive sports medicine services, injury prevention, rehabilitation, community outreach, and event coverage throughout mid-Michigan.
