MSU Health Care Neurology & Ophthalmology specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of all types of diseases or impaired function of the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, muscles and autonomic nervous system, as well as the blood vessels that relate to these structures. Our providers hold faculty appointments within Michigan State University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine, and College of Human Medicine's Department of Neurology. We offer several specialized clinics to treat many different types of neurological and ophthalmologic disorders and diseases.

Our specialized clinics include: 

MSU Health Care Neurology and Ophthalmology offers services and treatment for diseases such as dementia, delirium and Alzheimer's, epilepsy, headache and migraines, Parkinson’s disease, restless legs syndrome, Huntington’s disease, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy and ALS, Lou Gehrig’s disease, stroke, vertigo and myasthenia gravis. 

Common tests include electroencephalogram (EEG) tests which measures and records electrical activity of the brain, flash electroretinogram (ERG) which measures the electrical response of your eye’s light sensitive-cells (cones and rods) electromyogram (EMG) which determines if your muscles and nerves are working properly, optical coherence tomography (OCT) which produces detailed images of the retnia, and visual evoked potential (VEP) which measure the function of optic nerves. 

Additionally, MSU Health Care Neurology and Ophtamology is part of the Neuro Care Network, a joint operating agreement between MSU Health Care and University of Michigan Health-Sparrow. This network offers more convenient local neurological services for an improved patient experience. Effective July 18, 2024, the collaborative effort will include inpatient and outpatient neurology, neurosurgery, electrodiagnostic and infusion service lines from both institutions.
