Michigan State University (MSU) Health Care and Karmanos Cancer Institute at McLaren Greater Lansing are proud to welcome our newest physician, Jayson B. Field, MD.
Dr. Field is a nationally recognized, ABOG board-certified gynecologic oncologist. He brings more than 15 years of oncology experience to mid-Michigan. Dr. Field specializes in minimally invasive surgery, open debulking of ovarian cancer, chemotherapy and hormone therapy treatments for women with gynecologic cancers, including ovarian and endometrial cancer. Since 2012, he has served as principal investigator for Gynecologic Oncology Group/NRG Oncology Clinical Trials, which is responsible for improving and expanding cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Through this partnership between MSU Health Care, Karmanos and McLaren, we can bring world-class care to patients in mid-Michigan who are battling gynecologic cancer,” said Richard E. Leach, M.D., FACOG, FACS, Professor and Chair, Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Biology, Michigan State University.
Dr. Field joins a multidisciplinary team of board-certified physicians from MSU Health Care, Karmanos Cancer Institute and McLaren Greater Lansing. He will collaborate with providers in oncologic care at the three health organizations to expand the program and offer a new and specialized service to community members that in the past would have to travel out of the area for this type of care.

As a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center, Karmanos is a leader in gynecologic oncology. In fact, Karmanos has one of the most robust gynecologic clinical trial portfolio with Phase I through Phase III studies, which are often not available at any other facility in the state of Michigan. These valuable trials give patients access to tomorrow’s care today.

His work will advance life-saving care for cancer patients in our community and provide great contributions to medical education and science at MSU.”
Early in his career as a resident and fellow, Dr. Field worked with patients on research trials. He has been involved in translational and clinical research in Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) and its impact on cervical dysplasia and cancer, PARP inhibitors and ovarian cancer, surgery for endometrial cancer and cervical cancer, chemotherapy for ovarian and endometrial cancer.
