People are adjusting to a new sleep schedule this week but there is a real health concern for people with diabetes.

The disease affects nearly 40 million people in the United States. It can be tough to manage on a good day but add in a time change and it can take a dangerous turn.

A doctor and nurse who help patients manage their diabetes know daylight saving time can pose a challenge for people who have an insulin pump.

“Correct time settings are crucial and prudent for insulin delivery and doses to be given at the time that they are intended for,” said Dr. Saleh Al dasouqi, the Chief of Endocrinology at MSU Health Care.
