Colorectal Surgery

MSU Health Care Colorectal Surgery provides patients with access to complete colorectal care within the university setting. Patients will experience personalized care from screening through treatment of their colorectal diagnoses. The alliance between MSU Health Care, Karmanos Cancer Institute, and McLaren Greater Lansing continues to strengthen and offers expanding support of colon and rectal cancer care for the Lansing community. As faculty providers of the Department of Osteopathic Surgical Services in College of Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State University, we are involved in colon cancer research with the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics in College of Natural Science. A partnership between research and clinical care will facilitate state-of-the-art care for colorectal cancer patients.

Practice Philosophy

  • Individualized, patient-centered care begins with discussions involving conservative treatment, when possible, especially for rectal diagnoses such as inflamed hemorrhoids
  • Colonoscopy are offered at McLaren Greater Lansing Endoscopy Center, as well as Genesis Surgery Center
  • Complex colorectal surgery is performed at McLaren Greater Lansing Hospital
  • Minimally invasive surgery is performed whenever possible to promote a positive post-operative experience and decrease the hospital length-of-stay
